The persistent trigeminal artery (PTA) is a persistent, primitive, embryonic anastomosis that provides the blood flow between vertebro-basilar system and carotid system. presence of PTA may create an advantage by providing collateral circulation during stroke as in cases leptomeningeal collaterals, external-internal anastomoses, polygon Willis.
